Many of us are notorious for making lofty new year’s plans. We want to save more money, start a business, but most popularly lose weight. Although setting positive goals for a new year is a positive thing, rarely are we successful. As an expert in the fitness industry, January is my most lucrative part of the year, then back to business as usual in February. Over the years I’ve observed those that are successful, and they tend to do the following:
CREATE A SUPPORT SYSTEM:
Those that are successful tend to socialize with other people with similar goals. Find a work out partner, join a group, and get your family involved. These are the people that will hold you accountable, encourage you, and will celebrate you when you’re successful.
WRITE DOWN SPECIFIC GOALS AND VISIT THEM OFTEN:
When you’re clear about what you’re trying to do, you will be more successful. Writing your objective down on a tangeable object can further seal your commitment to your goal. Surround yourself with constant reminders of your goal and images of people who have achieved success in their journey. Personally, I like to post pictures of fit people on my bathroom mirror.
TRACK YOUR PROGRESS:
Some of our best encouragers are small victories. When you keep track of the slow stead progress you’re making, that will give you the motivation and energy to keep going. Progress doesn’t always come in the form of pounds lost on the scale, although that’s useful too. It could be as simple as celebrating the fact that you consistently drink the right amount of water daily. Record this victory on your calendar and soon your schedule will fill up with the small mountains you’ve conquered, which ultimately help you climb the big one.
