Today I met with Zell Miller and Shannon Sandrea with The Cyphers. I was doing an interview on The Cyphers for our March issue of Ujima Magazine. But what I realized about myself today was I got hooked on the word “hip-hop” and decided their events were not appropriate for me. But I was wrong. I do not want to give too much away because of the upcoming article, but what I found out was this is a fantastic organization.
But why did I come to the conclusion that the word “hip-hop” meant bad, negativity, loudness, words I can’t repeat? Why? Because I allowed myself to buy into the negativity of the images I see and hear on TV and radio. Fortunately I opened my mind and sought information about the program and found this is a great program for young people.
I am so glad I did the interview because I learned something today about a good program and myself. Learning about your self is always a good thing in my opinion. So, please look forward to my upcoming article, I feel you will learn something too. The word hip-hop can be good you just have to look for it.
