Distribution
The publication has a subscriber list of nearly 2,500 business owners and community leaders in addition to distribution locations across Austin and surrounding communities of Pflugerville, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Kyle and Elgin. The magazine will also be distributed at cultural events throughout the year. Also, an electronic version of the magazine, with advertising, is published online at www.UjimaMagazine.com and also sent electronically to over 3,500 email subscribers.

Artwork is due by the 20th of each month, generally two weeks prior to the production date. Ads must be paid for and artwork delivered on time or will not be included in the issue.  There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule. Format
The magazine will be published in full-color, 8.5″x11″, silk matte finish with 32-36 pages.
Contact Account Executive for a quote and acceptable specifications. Advertisers will be expected to furnish enough pre-printed inserts for the entire run plus a special bindery handling charge.

Production Specifications

  • Trim size: 8.5” x 11”
  • Bleed: At least 1/8” within trim for live area
  • Platemaking: computer-to-plate, 133-line screen, elliptical dot
  • Formats accepted: CMYK PDF or TIFF or JPEG accepted. Native application files will not be accepted.
  • Graphics: Raster file resolution needs to be 300 dpi or better. If submitting an EPS format, fonts must be converted. 
  • Paper: 80-lb, silk
  • Printing: Offset, SWOP tolerances
  • Inks: SWOP four-color process.
  • Bindery: Saddle-stitched; allow 1/4” across the gutter

  • Payment is due in full by the ad deadline prior to the publication date.  Unpaid ad submissions will NOT be included in the magazine.  NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Ujima Magazine may, at its sole discretion, edit, reject or cancel at any time any advertising submitted by an advertiser. Advertisers and/or their representatives indemnify the publisher in relation to defamation, slander, breach of copyright, infringements of trademarks, unfair competition or trade practices, royalties or violation of rights of privacy and warrant that the material complies with all of the relevant laws and regulations and that its publication will not give rise to any rights against or liabilities in the publishers, its servants or agents.
  • Positioning of advertisements is at the discretion of Ujima Magazine except where request for a specific position is granted, in writing, by the Publisher or Account Executive.
  • No refunds after the ad deadline.
  • All submissions, cancellations, or changes must be received and acknowledged by an authorized Ujima Account Executive and may be subject to additional fees if made after the ad deadline.
  • The closing time for cancellations or ad booking changes is 48 hours prior to publication date. A cancellation charge of 50% will be made for cancellations made after this deadline, or if artwork is not supplied in time for publication.
  • Ujima Magazine will not reimburse any ad space if the publication would not be able to be delivered by the publish date in the case of acts of God or any other unpredictable events such as strikes, lack of transportation, war, acts of terrorism, etc.
  • Placing of an order for advertising either verbally or in writing is construed as an acceptance of all rates and conditions under which advertising space is sold at the time by Ujima Magazine and such order, when accepted by Ujima Magazine, shall constitute a contract.
  • All advertising copy that represents the creative efforts of Ujima Magazine and/or the utilization of creativity, illustrations, labour, composition or material furnished by it is and remains the property of Ujima Magazine, including all rights of copyright therein. Advertisers cannot authorize photographic or other reproductions, in whole or in part, of any such advertising copy for use in any other medium without the express written consent of Ujima Magazine.
