Sunni Soper – For Public Consumption – Debut Album Release Party
August 28 – 8 p.m.
Neo Soul Lounge at Mr. Catfish and More – 1144 Airport Boulevard, Austin, Texas
Sunni Soper is a poet and music advocate based in Austin, TX. Her pieces have aired on KAZI 88.7 FM, KOOP 91.7 FM and Syren Entertainment’s internet station. At the 2014 Austin Hip Hop Awards, she was pulled from the audience for an impromptu performance on stage.
Soper’s debut album, For Public Consumption, ponders the effect of music on consciousness and culture, checks society’s obsession with filling prisons and wallets, and chases the meaning behind repeated encounters with a familiar soul over several lifetimes. The collection of 15 original works, set to music, was produced by Trent Spears (Notably Proficient Music) and mastered by Terrany Johnson (Urban Artist Alliance; Kinetic Global Media Group).
The CD release party begins at 8 p.m., August 28, at Neo Soul Lounge (presented by South Flavas Entertainment), located at Mr. Catfish and More. All ages; $6 cover.
Performing with Sunni Soper will be Trent Spears (aka DJ Supreme) on the ones and twos. An open mic will round out the night with readings from special guests.
Beginning August 28, For Public Consumption will be available for purchase at shows. The album will be available for digital download on August 21 via www.sunnisoperpoetry.com.
