New building will allow clinic to double the number of Central Texas patients served
People’s Community Clinic (PCC) is proud to announce the opening of its new 59,000 square foot headquarters located at 1101 Camino La Costa. The health care facility was made possible in part by a $10 million grant from St. David’s Foundation and will double the number of uninsured able to be served.
The new location will serve Pediatric, Adolescent and Adult Medicine patients and has several specialized patient-centered features including a teaching kitchen, health education classrooms, integrated behavioral health counseling, services, and an Adolescent Resource Center.
“We’re growing and going where we’re needed,” said Regina Rogoff, CEO of People’s Community Clinic. “More than 200,000 Austin-area residents will be uninsured by 2017. Our 14,000 square foot IH 35 facility simply can’t keep up with the needs of our rapidly increasing population, so we are rising up to help serve those in need.”
Nearly 50 percent of PCC patients live within two miles of the new Camino La Costa site, compared to 15.1 percent who reside within two miles of the clinic’s current IH 35 location. Patients in the new service area suffer from higher than the national average of incidences of diabetes, hypertension and increased need for prenatal care and mammograms.
The new clinic will allow PCC to approximately double its patient capacity over the next few years, eventually providing about 20,000 Central Texans with access to medical care.
People’s current facility at 2909 N. IH 35, across from the St. David’s Medical Center, has been transformed into the People’s Community Clinic Center for Women’s Health providing a full spectrum of reproductive health services including prenatal care, cancer screenings, and family planning.
People’s Community Clinic has been a reliable and respected fixture in the Austin-area’s health care landscape for the past 46 years. For information about the People’s Community Clinic, visit https://www.austinpcc.org.
