Another Impactful Loss: Gary Job Corp
A Second Chance, A New Beginning: For countless young people across Texas,

Gary Job Corps has been more than just a training center—it’s been a second chance. Located in San Marcos, it opened its doors to young people ages 16 to 24 who needed direction, support, and the chance to dream bigger.
At Gary, education was offered in many areas such as a high school diploma or GED, student mentors, welding to health care, culinary arts to computer tech. Gary offered hands-on career training that led to certifications and good-paying jobs.
Life skills were also taught such as how to manage time, handle finances, and communicate professionally. One of the biggest aspects were the students being connected to employers for a chance at a good job to show off their skills.
And all of it was free.
As the doors close on June 30, 2025, this program will be a loss for the San Marcos community, employees and students. Ujima wishes all the students and employees well and thank you for 60 years of impactful work.
