Adesewa Faleti will be performing in Austin for the first time on October 26th. She is excited, a little fearful, but ready to step out and do her thing. I had the opportunity to sit down with Adesewa to talk about her upcoming concert.
Adesewa has been singing since she was a young girl. Music and singing has always been a big part of her life. Some of her favorite artist and influencers are India Arie, Lalah Hathway, Gregory Porter and many more. She finds that her music library is very eclectic.
We all find inspiration from some place when we are being creative. It is no different when you are writing poetry or songs. “I write poetry which turns in to a song.” stated Adesewa. She is still working on her craft of songwriting but will sing two to three original songs written by her and her collaborators. “I am still developing who I am as a singer, but I would say I am a R&B soul singer.” When she writes her songs, they do reflect on her experiences and/or relationships.
When Adesewa takes the stage on October 26th, it will be her first time singing in Austin. It will be her time to share her passion with the world and the place she calls home. She is excited to utilize her gift and give back to all the people that support her journey. “One of my biggest supporters have been Dr. Moe Anderson. She is the one that encouraged me to take the next step.” stated Adesewa. “Dr. Moe and other friends would ask when are you doing a concert? Dr. Moe told her she was not utilizing her gift.”
You can catch Adesewa on October 11th on 96.3 radio station around 12:00 and October 19th at the Backyard. She will be apart of the Austin Jazz Festival. Visit http://www.austinjazzfest.com for more information.
