Where Did the Name “Black Friday” Start?

Do you remember after Thanksgiving dinner, everyone would grab the newspaper and go through all the Black Friday flyers and plan how to shop the next morning? But have you ever wondered why the Friday after Thanksgiving is called Black Friday?

According to research, the term was first used in the 1860s to describe financial crashes, specifically the gold market crash on September 24, 1869, when a scheme by investors Jay Gould and James Fisk caused the market to collapse. In the 1950s and 1960s, police in Philadelphia began using “Black Friday” to describe the chaotic crowds and traffic caused by the start of the holiday shopping season after Thanksgiving. Lastly, retailers liked the term because it represented businesses being profitable “in the black.”

Black Friday remains the biggest shopping day of the year!

Are you a paper planner type of person? Well, planners are my favorite thing to organize, journal and place ideas on paper so they don’t get  lost.

I recently purchased a new small pocket notebook from here

I am using it for thoughts that I want to capture so when I do my planning in my larger planner, I can grab the information and continue my planning. I got the yellow color because I love the brightness. It is a great companion to your planner. If you have not heard of the Bullet Journal system for organizing and planning, you can take a look at bulletjournal.com

What is your favorite way to plan?
