Written by: Damita Miller-Shanklin

August brings with it more than just the warmth of summer sunshine, it is also National Wellness Month. It means more than going to the gym or eating healthy; but to look at our well-being. Her are five things to know about National Wellness Month.

  1. Taking Care of Everything– our whole our body, feelings, and our thoughts. All the pieces to be healthy.
  1. Time for You– take time to think about how you are doing. Are you happy? Healthy? We owe it to ourselves to check in to determine where we are in this area.
  1. Healthy Choices-being healthy means good food, exercising, and sleeping good. You should keep your stress down.
  1. Friends and Feelings– it’s good having friends and family around. Having fun times laughing and enjoying each other’s company will go a long way. It feels good.
  1. Taking Care of Our Minds– we have to take care of our minds. We need to be calm, think positive, and find some quiet time just to relax our mind and breathe.

What will you do to take care of yourself this month?

National Wellness Month tells us to be good to ourselves. It’s not just about exercise; it’s about making all parts of us happy.
